Iconic MI Ice Cream Shop Closing Down Soon

A popular ice cream shop in west Michigan is closing down soon after 66 years.

SOUTH HAVEN, MI — A popular ice cream shop in west Michigan is closing down soon after 66 years.

Sherman’s Dairy Bar, located at 1601 Phoenix St. in South Haven, announced on social media that it will permanently shut down on Oct. 26.

The shop was well-known for its many unique flavors, including Chocomania, Grasshopper, French Silk and Cappuccino.

"We have loved being part of your summer traditions for 66 seasons, and we know many of you have fond memories of a scoop at Sherman’s," the post read.

Though it has been an ice cream shop for the past 66 years, the Sherman’s story actually dates back to 1916 when it was a dairy and milk delivery business.
