'It Still Doesn't Seem Real': MI Man Wins $1M On Scratch-Off Ticket

WAYNE COUNTY, MI — A Wayne County man said it still doesn't seem real that he won a $1 million on a scratch-off ticket, according to Michigan Lottery Officials.

The lucky 53-year-old player, who chose to remain anonymous, bought his winning Gold Multiplier ticket at the Tel-Wick Amoco Service Center, located at 9225 Telegraph Rd. in Taylor, according to lottery officials.

"I scratched the ticket and saw I matched a number, but I didn’t scratch the winning amount right away," the lucky player told lottery officials. "I finished scratching the rest of the ticket and saw I didn’t get any other matches, so I scratched the winning amount. When I saw a prize of $1 million, my mouth dropped to the ground!"

The lucky player told lottery officials he then called his son and fiance right away to tell them the news.

"Winning is life-changing and one of the best things to ever happen to me! I have been nervous for days and it still doesn’t seem real," the lucky player told lottery officials.

He chose to receive his prize as a one-time lump sum payment of about $693,000 rather than annuity payments for the full amount, according to lottery officials.

With his winnings, he plans to help his family, according to lottery officials.
