Leslie Rorie joins Michigan credit union LAFCU as controller

Oversees credit union's accounting department

Leslie Rorie has joined LAFCU as a controller, where she will supervise the credit union’s accounting department and oversee its financial and regulatory functions.

Rorie will work directly with LAFCU’s chief financial officer to maintain a highly cohesive and trained accounting department and support all finance and accounting functions at the credit union.

“Since joining LAFCU, Leslie has already demonstrated her experience, leadership and utmost professionalism,” said James McHale, LAFCU chief financial officer. “Her talents are valued and a tremendous complement to the finance department.”

Rorie, a resident of Oak Park, has over two decades of experience in the credit union industry. She was most recently an assistant vice president of a credit union in Livonia, Michigan, where she was in charge of the loss prevention department. She was a controller for eight years at a credit union in Southfield, Michigan, and has also worked as an accountant, auditor, and accounting and branch manager.

“Accounting is so important to the foundation of the organization,” Rorie said. “In my new role, I will continue to build on the solid base that LAFCU has established and develop processes and procedures to ensure that our members can use all of LAFCU’s products and services and that financial information is accurate and reliable.”

Rorie holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Hampton University in Hampton, Virginia. She is a long-standing member of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., serving in various roles, including finance committee chair and treasurer of the Service Builders Foundation.
