Meteors Light Up Michigan's Sky: Reports

The American Meteor Society said it received more than 100 reports from people across the state reporting the meteors.

Two meteors streaked across Michigan's sky Monday night, according to reports.

The first fireball was seen over the northern part of the state at roughly 9:25 p.m., according to Michigan Storm Chasers.

The group shared footage from its cameras in Wolverine, Petoskey, Lincoln and Harrison showing the shooting star moving from southeast to northwest in the sky.

Roughly six minutes later, another meteor moved south to north in central Michigan.

The storm chasers said its cameras in Dundee and Frankenmuth caught the meteor streaking across the sky at 9:31 p.m.

NASA's fireball database also showed reports of meteors falling across southeastern Michigan.

The fireballs are part of the Puppis Constellation meteor shower, which started March 21 and is expected to continue until March 27, according to CBS News Detroit meteorologist Vytas Reid.
