An 84-year-old volunteer got into a "heated conversation" with a resident and was shot in the back as she left the home, Right to Life said.
LAKE ODESSA, MI — An elderly volunteer with Right to Life of Michigan was shot in the back last week while going door-to-door in Lake Odessa to speak against Proposal 3, the anti-abortion organization said in a statement issued this weekend.
According to the statement, the 84-year-old volunteer got into a "heated conversation" with a resident and was leaving the home when she was shot. The woman said the person who shot her was not part of the conversation, the organization said.
The woman did not know her attacker, the organization said.

Michigan voters will decide the future of Proposal 3, or the Right to Reproductive Freedom Initiative, when they head to the polls on Nov. 8.
If passed, the measure will establish a state constitutional right to reproductive freedom, which is defined as "the right to make and effectuate decisions about all matters relating to pregnancy, including but not limited to prenatal care, childbirth, postpartum care, contraception, sterilization, abortion care, miscarriage management, and infertility care."
