This MI Area Is The ‘Best Fall Road Trip’ In The Midwest

A popular travel magazine recognized a northern Michigan spot for its spectacular fall foliage.

Travel + Leisure named Michigan’s Keweenaw Peninsula as the "Midwest’s Best Fall Road Trip."

The area is well known for its dramatic autumn canopy, sweeping views of Lake Superior and rich historic charm.

The magazine highlighted the area's pristine scenic drives, including the world-class Copper Country Scenic Byway along U.S. 41 and the winding coastal stretches of M-26.

During late September and early October, the forests transform into a vibrant corridor of reds, oranges and golds framed by rugged freshwater coastlines.

Executive Director of Visit Keweenaw Brad Barnett said road trips are a vital part of the region's visitor economy.
