MI Company Recalls Popular Frozen Food
Officials said the recall is connected to a larger salmonella-related milk powder recall.
NEW BOSTON, MI — A Michigan company is recalling a popular frozen food due to a possible health risk.
Champion Foods LLC, of New Boston, voluntarily recalled its Motor City Pizza Co. 5 Cheese Bread because it has the potential to be contaminated with salmonella.
The volunteer Friday recall is connected to a California Dairies, Inc. milk powder recall, which also stems from salmonella problems.

"The recalled milk powder was supplied to a third-party manufacturer that provides a seasoning blend used in our 5-cheese sauce blend," Champion’s officials said. "Routine testing conducted by the seasoning’s blend manufacturer prior to use in the production of the 5 Cheese Bread showed that the seasoning’s batches tested negative for salmonella; however, we are taking action out of an abundance of caution for the safety of our customers."
Motor City Pizza Co. 5 Cheese Bread is sold at numerous retail and grocery stores across Michigan, including Costco, Kroger, Meijer, Target and Walmart.
