MI Friends Win Big In Same Powerball Drawing With The Same Numbers

SAGINAW, MI — A pair of Michigan friends won big after playing the same Powerball numbers for the same drawing, according to the Michigan Lottery.

Naomi Cawley, 59, from Saginaw, matched four white balls and the Powerball (04-27-33-41-42, PB: 14) in the Feb. 21 drawing to win a $50,000 prize, which was multiplied to $100,000 with the Power Play, according to the Michigan Lottery.

Cawley's friend, who wasn't identified by lottery officials, also won $50,000 in the same drawing with the same numbers, according to the Michigan Lottery.

The friend's ticket wasn't multiplied to $100,000 because she forgot to play the Power Play, according to the Michigan Lottery.

"A friend and I have always said if we won the Lottery, we would share the money," Cawley told lottery officials. "Rather than buying one ticket for the both of us, we started buying our own separate tickets with the same numbers."

"I went into complete shock when I got a call from my friend late one night telling me we’d won on our Powerball numbers," Cawley added.

Both winning tickets were purchased online at MichiganLottery.com, according to the Michigan Lottery.

With her winnings, Cawley told lottery officials she plans to take her family on a trip and then save the remainder.

The Powerball drawing takes place at 10:59 p.m. on Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday and may be watched live online at http://www.powerball.com.
