Some people are finding gas even cheaper in the Metro Detroit area, especially in Dearborn, where a Citgo on Michigan Avenue had prices as low as $2.85 per gallon.

Despite the drop in cost, however, the state’s average price for a gallon of gas is still likely to set a record high. The record high for gas prices on Thanksgiving is $3.61, which was set in 2012, according to AAA.

"Higher gas prices don’t seem to be enough to stop people from traveling to be with family and friends," said Adrienne Woodland, spokeswoman for AAA "We’ve found that when gas prices are high, travelers look to offset the added cost by spending less on a hotel, shopping or dining out."
