MICHIGAN — Gas prices across Michigan set a new 2024 high Monday morning after prices jumped 20 cents from last week, according to AAA.
The price for a regular gallon of gas Monday morning across Michigan was $3.45, which is 45 cents more than this time last month and 4 cents more than a year ago, according to AAA.
Gas prices in the metro Detroit area were also at $3.45, which is roughly 19 cents more than last week’s average and 3 cents more than the same time in 2023, according to AAA.

Overall, Michigan drivers paid an average of $51 for a full 15-gallon tank of gasoline, according to AAA.
"Oil prices fell after the EIA’s weekly report showed that total domestic commercial crude stocks increased by 4.2 million barrels to 447.2 million barrels," AAA officials said in a Monday statement. "The supply increase could signal that crude demand is loosening, contributing to a reduction in oil prices."

The most expensive gas price averages are in Jackson ($3.48), Benton Harbor ($3.47) and Ann Arbor ($3.47).
The least expensive gas price averages are in Marquette ($3.29), Traverse City ($3.44) and Metro Detroit ($3.44).
