MI Hotel Named Best Resort In Midwest: Report
Michigan also has three other hotels on the list, all of which are on Mackinac Island.
CHARLEVOIX COUNTY, MI — A Michigan hotel was picked by a popular travel magazine as the best resort in the Midwest.
Hotel Walloon, an upscale boutique hotel overlooking lovely Walloon Lake, was named as the best hotel resort in the Midwest by Travel + Leisure.
The northern Michigan hotel, built in 2015 and inspired by the vintage charm of historic hotels, offers 32 rooms and sits on Walloon Lake. The lake is known for recreational activities, such as fishing and boating to skiing and snowshoeing.

The hotel's prime northern Michigan location sits among some of the state's best vacation perks, including shopping, beaches and golf courses of Petoskey, Bay Harbor and Charlevoix.
Walloon Lake is also the spot where author Ernest Hemingway spent his childhood summers. Moreover, the Hemingway home is not far from the hotel and remains in the writer’s extended family.
