MI Man Wins $1M On Scratch-Off Ticket

With his winnings, he plans to pay off his home and buy a new truck.

INGHAM COUNTY, MI — A Michigan man said it was hard to drive home because he couldn't focus after winning a $1 million on a scratch-off ticket, according to lottery officials.

The lucky 55-year-old player, who chose to remain anonymous, bought his winning Millionaire Maker ticket at Louie’s Party Store, located at 1931 South Washington Avenue in Lansing, according to lottery officials.

"I buy lottery tickets often, but I only play the $50 games," the man told lottery officials. "I bought a Millionaire Maker ticket, scratched the barcode, and scanned it at the store. When I got a message to file a claim, I went out to my car and scratched the rest of the ticket."

"I was so excited when I saw I won $1 million that it was hard to even drive home because I couldn’t focus! I’m still in awe and waiting for it to fully sink in," he added.

He chose to receive his prize as a one-time lump sum payment of about $693,000 rather than annuity payments for the full amount.
