This MI Metro Area Is The Most Educated Place In The Nation: Study

This personal finance study shows some of the smartest people in the nation live in Michigan.

MICHIGAN — While Michigan is best-known for its Great Lakes and beautiful landscapes, the state is also home to some of the smartest people in the country, according to a WalletHub study.

The personal finance study ranked Ann Arbor as the most educated area out of 150 metro areas across the nation.

The study found that more than 95 percent of adults 25 and older in the Ann Arbor metro area have at least a high school diploma. Another 57 percent have at least a bachelor’s degree and more than 30 percent have an advanced degree, according to the study.

The numbers are among the highest percentages across the country, according to the study.

"Ann Arbor also ranks fifth in the country when it comes to the quality of its universities, and it has the 18th-best public-school system," the study added. "In addition, the metro area has a lot of equality in educational attainment, with only a 1.9% gap between the share of women and men who have at least a bachelor’s degree."
