The couple were just married hours earlier before the incident, according to police.
Police said Shirah and Taylor Jr., who was a groomsman at the wedding, got into an argument at a home where the celebration was taking place.
The argument escalated to a street in front of the home where Shirah struck Taylor Jr. intentionally struck him in a large, speeding SUV, according to police.
The newlywed couple then left the scene and didn't reach out to police until the next day, according to police.
"I've never seen anything quite like this," said Genesee County Prosecutor David Leyton. "I've seen people running over other people but not so soon after a wedding."
