Hooper Wins Republican Nomination For MI U.S. House District 12: AP

The Associated Press called the race at 3:30 a.m. when Hooper secured 60 percent of the vote.

MICHIGAN — Republican James Hooper won the Republican nomination for the Michigan's 12th Congressional District in Tuesday's elections, setting up a matchup with Democrat incumbent Rep. Rashida Tlaib, according to the Associated Press.

The Associated Press called the race at 3:30 a.m. when Hooper secured 60 percent of the vote. Tlaib ran unopposed for the Democratic nomination.

The district includes parts of Wayne and Oakland counties, including part of Detroit, Dearborn, Livonia and Southfield, among others.

Tlaib won re-election in 2022 against Republican Steven Elliott.
