Gibbs Upsets Meijer For West MI Seat To U.S. Congress: Reports
The most competitive federal matchup in the state's primaries Tuesday outside the metro Detroit is the 3rd U.S. Congressional District.

GRAND RAPIDS, MI — Backed by former President Donald Trump, challenger John Gibbs upset U.S. Rep. Peter Meijer in Tuesday's primary election for the state's newly drawn 3rd U.S. Congressional District, which includes large portions of Grand Rapids, according to multiple outlets.
Gibbs will face Hillary Scholten in November. Scholten ran unopposed in Tuesday's primary. Meijer was one of just 10 Republicans to impeach Trump after the Capitol Riot.
