MI Republican Lawmaker Arrested For 'Felon-Level Offense': Reports
The lawmaker was arrested in Lansing after police received reports of a man with a gun and possible shots fired, according to reports.
LANSING, MI — A Michigan state Republican lawmaker was arrested early Thursday morning on undisclosed charges, according to multiple reports citing police.
Neil Friske, 62, a Republican from Charlevoix, was arrested "for a felon-level offense" after police received reports of a man with a gun and possible shots fired at 2:45 a.m. on the 2100 block of Forest Road in Lansing, according to reports.
Friske was placed in the Lansing Police Department lockup and is expected to be in court this weekend if officials formally charge Friske, according to Fox Detroit.

While it's unclear what happened, Friske's campaign posted a statement on social media that said he is "always exercising his 2nd Amendment right."
"We ask everyone for prayers and to stay tuned from updates directly from this campaign or Representative Friske himself. Thank you for the outpouring of concern and unwavering support we have received this morning. Clearly, Rep. Friske is over the target in this race," the statement said.

Friske was first elected to the state House in November 2022. He represents Michigan's 107th House District, which covers all of Charlevoix and Emmet counties and portions of Cheboygan, Chippewa and Mackinac counties, spanning across both peninsulas.
He faces a Republican primary election challenge in the August primary against Parker Fairbairn of Harbor Springs.
