MI Snowstorm: Timeline, Regional Breakdown
Some areas in southeastern Michigan can see up 8 inches of fresh snow by Friday night, according to the National Weather Service.
SOUTHEASTERN MICHIGAN — An early spring snowstorm will dump heavy snow across Michigan on Friday, according to the National Weather Service.
Snowflakes will move into southeastern Michigan by daybreak, around 5 a.m. before becoming more widespread across the region around 8 a.m., according to the National Weather Service.
Heavy snow will fall across southeastern Michigan throughout the morning hours before highs reach the 40s and the snow starts lighting up in the afternoon hours around 3 or 4 p.m., according to the National Weather Service.

The snow will then pick back up across southeastern Michigan in the evening hours, around 8 p.m. and stick around throughout the late evening and nighttime hours, according to the National Weather Service.
Areas north of Interstate 69 in southeastern Michigan will see the most snow with totals reaching up to 8 inches in the Saginaw area and between 3 and 5 inches of fresh snow in the Flint and Thumb areas, according to the National Weather Service.

Areas between Michigan 59 and Interstate 69 in southeastern Michigan will likely see between 2 and 3 inches of fresh snow, though some areas farther north closer to Interstate 69 can also see up to 5 inches of snow by Friday night, according to the National Weather Service.
Areas south of Michigan 59, including most of the metro Detroit area will likely see between 1 and 2 inches of fresh snow by Friday night, according to the National Weather Service.
Lastly, areas south of Interstate 94 toward the Ohio border will see the lowest snow accumulations from the storm, as forecasters only expect up to an inch of fresh snow in those areas by Friday night, according to the National Weather Service.
In western Michigan, areas north of Interstate 96 can see more than 4 inches of fresh snow by Friday night, according to the National Weather Service.
Parts of central Michigan will also likely see accumulating snow reaching up to 5 inches by Friday night, according to the National Weather Service.
The snowstorm will likely miss, or just graze northern Michigan, as forecasters are only expecting roughly 2 inches of fresh snow in the region, specifically in areas around Gaylord, according to the National Weather Service.
