A Clinton County woman almost threw away her $1 million winning scratch-off ticket, according to the Michigan Lottery.

CLINTON COUNTY, MI — A Clinton County woman almost threw away her $1 million winning scratch-off ticket, according to the Michigan Lottery.
The lucky 30-year-old player said she stopped in the Hansen’s Quik Stop, at 8998 East M-21 in Ovid, which is roughly 30 miles northeast of Lansing, and bought the new Sizzling Hot 7’s instant game.
She said she scratched the tickets in her car and then threw them into a bag with other garbage, believing both tickets were losers, lottery officials said.

Before throwing the bag out the next morning, she looked over the tickets one more time, and found the winning ticket, lottery officials said.
"When I saw I’d won $1 million, my heart started racing and I thought I was going to faint," the lucky player said. "I called my mom and my husband right away to tell them the good news! I am so glad I decided to look the ticket over again before throwing it away."

She chose to receive her prize as a one-time lump sum payment of about $693,000 rather than 30 annuity payments for the full amount. With her winnings, she plans to purchase a home and invest, lottery officials said.
