MI Woman Hits Lotto 47 Jackpot, Wins Nearly $4M

With her winnings, she plans to pay bills and live comfortably, lottery officials said.

TUSCOLA COUNTY, MI — A Michigan woman won nearly $4 million after hitting the Lotto 47 jackpot, according to Michigan Lottery officials.

The 63-year-old woman, who chose to remain anonymous, bought the winning $3.98 million ticket at Bryan’s Market, located at 6002 North Lapeer Road in North Branch, lottery officials said.

She told lottery officials that she and her husband have been playing the lottery for years.

"The day after the drawing, we got a text from a family member that said a Lotto 47 jackpot winning ticket was sold at Bryan’s Market and asked if we were the big winners," she said, adding they regularly buy their tickets from the market.

So she started scanning the ticket on the Michigan lottery app, believing her chances of having the winning ticket were slim.

"When I was about halfway through the pile, the screen lit up and $3.98 million came up on the scanner," she said. "I was in complete shock. It’s the kind of feeling that makes you want to break down and cry!"

She chose to receive her winnings as a one-time lump sum payment of $2.7 million rather than annuity payments for the full amount, lottery officials said.

With her winnings, she plans to pay bills and live comfortably, lottery officials said.
