MI Woman Wins $1M Powerball Prize: MI Lottery

The lucky player told lottery officials "I woke everyone in our house up saying: 'I think I just won $1 million!'"

GRAND RAPIDS, MI — A Grand Rapids woman woke her whole family up after midnight when she realized she’d won a $1 million lottery prize, according to the Michigan Lottery.

Lisa Cecil, 66, matched the five white balls in the June 12 drawing (19-30-31-61-62) to win the big prize, according to the Michigan Lottery.

She bought her winning ticket at the Family Fare, located at 5241 Northland Drive Northeast in Grand Rapids, according to the Michigan Lottery.

"It was after midnight when I checked this ticket, and I saw I had three numbers, then four, and I thought to myself: ‘I think I just won some money!’ When I checked off the fifth number, I was in disbelief," Cecil told lottery officials. "I woke everyone in our house up saying: ‘I think I just won $1 million!’ Once my family looked the ticket over and confirmed what I was seeing, I knew it was real."

With her winnings, Cecil told lottery officials she plans to pay off her home and share with her family.

"I have been playing the lottery for a long time and I never dreamed I would win a prize like this! It’s unbelievable," Cecil told lottery officials.
