Michigan COVID-19 Hospitalizations Drop Below 400: Officials

COVID-19 hospitalizations across Michigan dropped to their lowest levels since last summer, health officials announced Friday.

MICHIGAN — As state health officials reported 1,661 new cases of COVID-19 over the last two days and 33 new deaths, the number of people hospitalized in Michigan with COVID-19 fell to below 400, according to the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services.

As of Friday afternoon, there were 388 Michigan patients hospitalized with COVID-19, a trending decline from when the state saw its peak in December, where nearly 4,700 people were hospitalized with COVID-19.

The 1,661 new COVID-19 cases amounted to a two-day average of 831, and 27 of the 33 deaths were identified during a Vital Records review, state health officials said.

Health officials said 66.5 percent of Michigan's population has received at least one COVID-19 vaccine dose.
