Michigan Creates First-Ever Statewide LGTBQ+ Commission
Whitmer will appoint individuals that represent the interests of a diverse range of communities and perspectives to the commission.

MICHIGAN — Gov. Gretchen Whitmer signed an executive order Saturday to create a statewide commission to tackle issues facing the LGBTQ community.
The new Michigan LGBTQ+ Commission will focus on improving the health, safety, and economic opportunity within the community. Whitmer signed the legislation at the Motor City Pride parade event.
"As we celebrate Pride, we must continue taking action to ensure that everyone has the freedom to be who they are in Michigan," Whitmer said. "This issue is personal for me, and I will fight like hell to bring more diverse voices into the decision-making process so we can build a brighter future for every Michigander."
