Michigan's Gas Prices Hit New Record High: AAA

The state's 30 cent increase from just last week was the highest in the nation, leading Ohio's 19 cent increase by a wide margin.

MICHIGAN — Average gas prices for a gallon of regular gas in Michigan jumped to record highs Friday morning, according to AAA.

Michigan's drivers paid an average of $4.31 for a gallon of regular gas, 30 cents more than just last week, according to AAA. The 30 cent increase from last week was also the highest in the nation, leading Ohio's 19 cent increase by a. wide margin.

Wayne County saw the cheapest average in the metro Detroit area at $4.19, while Oakland County drivers an average of $4.28 and Macomb County drivers paid an average of $4.25. Livingston County saw the highest average in the metro area at $4.30. The highest average in the state was in Chippewa County in the state's Upper Peninsula at $4.41, according to AAA.

"Increasing gas demand and rising oil prices have pushed pump prices higher," AAA said in an analysis on Thursday. "Pump prices will likely face upward pressure as oil prices remain above $105 per barrel."
