More MI Rite Aid Stores Closing: Here's The List

MICHIGAN — Rite Aid is planning to close more Michigan stores, according to a Friday bankruptcy filing.

Rite Aid, one of the nation’s largest drugstore chains, plans to close 30 more stores, all of which are in Michigan and Ohio, according to the filing.

New Michigan store closings include:

• 12 Hoover Shopping Center, 11585 E. 12 Mile Road, Warren
• 2489 E. Lake Lansing Road, East Lansing
• 2990 W. 12 Mile Road, Berkley
• 352 N. Ross St., Beaverton
• 3000 Orchard Lake Road, Keego Harbor
• 753 S. Grove St., Ypsilanti
• 146 N. Corning St., Farwell
• 2003 E. 12 Mile Road, Warren
• 973 Washington Ave., Holland
• 26 Mile Road, Washington
• 8360 S. Saginaw St., Grand Blanc
• 715 E. Front St., Buchanan
• 3403 E. Genesee Ave., Saginaw
• 195 M-66 Highway, Charlevoix
• 39000 Van Dyke Ave., Sterling Heights

Rite Aid had already planned to close 15 other Michigan stores before Friday, including:

• Wyandotte, 1998 Biddle Ave

The latest spate of closures comes after the struggling drugstore chain filed for Chapter 11 Bankruptcy in October, and announced plans to close 150 stores. Since filing for bankruptcy, Rite Aid has said it will close 431 stores, according to MassLive.

Rite Aid has said its faced falling sales, increasing competition, and mounting debt stemming from opioid-related lawsuits.

The chain said on its website it has 1,704 stores in the United States. That number was about 4,600 in 2013, according to Business Insider. About 2,000 stores were sold to Walgreens in 2017 after a deal to sell the drugstore chain to its rival was nixed by federal regulators.
