Movie Character Inspires MI Man To Buy Lottery Ticket, He Won $500K

The man said he was inspired to buy the lottery ticket after watching a movie with a character, whom he believed looked like him, won big.

GENESEE COUNTY, MI — A Genesee County man won $500,000 on a scratch-off ticket that he bought after he was inspired by a character in a movie that looked like him, according to Michigan Lottery officials.

The 26-year-old man, who chose to remain anonymous, bought the winning Lucky 13 ticket at the E-Z Stop Food Mart, located at 5106 North Saginaw Street in Flint, according to lottery officials.

The lucky player told lottery officials he was inspired to buy the lottery ticket after watching a movie with a character, whom he believed looked like him, won big.

"The main character was my look-alike, so I took it as a sign to go buy a ticket," the lucky player told lottery officials.

Later that day, he told lottery officials that he was with some friends when he scratched the ticket.

"When I saw I’d won $500,000, I couldn’t believe my eyes! I wanted to make sure what I was seeing was real before sharing the news with my friends, so I went into the bathroom to look the ticket over again," the lucky player told lottery officials. "Once I confirmed what I was seeing, I called my girlfriend to tell her the good news. I feel so blessed to win this amount of money!"

With his winnings, he plans to take care of his kids and take a vacation, according to lottery officials.
