MSU's New Program Will Cover Full Tuition Costs For Some MI Students

Michigan State University's new program, Spartan Tuition Advantage, is scheduled to start in the fall of 2024.

EAST LANSING, MI — Michigan State University announced a new program Monday that will allow some incoming students to attend for free.

The new program, Spartan Tuition Advantage, will cover tuition costs for students if they are Pell Grant-eligible, qualify for in-state tuition, and have a household income of $65,000 or less. Transfer students are not eligible for the program.

Students must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) in order to use the program. Students must redo their FAFSA application each year to maintain eligibly. The program can be used to cover up to eight semesters.

Funding comes from a combination of federal, state, and institutional gifts and takes effect starting in the fall 2024 semester.
