Severe Thunderstorms, Tornado Risk Possible Friday: MI Weather
The greatest threat for severe weather Friday in southeastern Michigan will be west of U.S. 23, according to the National Weather Service.
SOUTHEAST MICHIGAN — Multiple rounds of severe thunderstorms can hit southeastern Michigan on Friday, according to the National Weather Service.
Forecasters expect the storms to develop during the afternoon hours when temperatures reach the low 80s and bleed over into the evening hours, according to the National Weather Service.
Some storms can produce heavy downpours, large hail around 1 inch in diameter, damaging wind gusts up to 60 miles per hour and even a possible tornado, according to the National Weather Service.

The Storm Prediction Center placed most of southeastern Michigan under a "marginal risk" (level 1 of 5) for severe weather Friday. The strongest chance for severe weather in the region will be west of U.S. 23, according to the National Weather Service.
Thunderstorm chances will linger into the overnight hours when lows hit the upper 60s, before clearing the region all together Saturday morning, according to the National Weather Service.

Here's the National Weather Service's extended forecast for southeastern Michigan:
Friday: Showers and thunderstorms likely before 11 p.m., then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm between 11 p.m. and 2 a.m., then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2 a.m. Some of the storms could produce heavy rainfall. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 67. Southeast wind 9 to 13 miles per hour, with gusts as high as 18 miles per hour. Chance of precipitation is 60 percent. New rainfall amounts between 1 and 2 inches possible.
Saturday: A chance of showers before 8 a.m. Mostly sunny, with a high near 84 degrees. West wind 9 to 14 miles per hour, with gusts as high as 21 miles per hour. Chance of precipitation is 30 percent.
Sunday: Sunny, with a high near 82 degrees. Northwest wind 6 to 8 miles per hour.
Monday: A chance of showers, then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm after 2 p.m. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 78 degrees. Chance of precipitation is 70 percent.
