Strong Thunderstorms Could Hit Detroit Area Monday: NWS
Forecasters warned the thunderstorms can produce heavy downpours, hail up to 1-inch in diameter and strong wind gusts.
SOUTHEAST MICHIGAN — Strong thunderstorms can hit southeastern Michigan on Monday as temperatures flirt with record highs, according to the National Weather Service.
The thunderstorms are expected to roll into southeastern Michigan sometime after 2 p.m. and into the early evening hours when temperatures reach the upper 80s across the region, according to the weather service.
A second round of strong thunderstorms can develop sometime after 10 p.m. across southeastern Michigan, according to the weather service.

The thunderstorms can produce heavy downpours, hail up to 1-inch in diameter and strong wind gusts reaching up to 50 miles per hour, according to the weather service.
Most of southeastern Michigan is under a marginal risk (level 1 of 5) for severe storms Monday, according to the weather service.

Another line of strong to severe thunderstorms is also possible late Tuesday night across southeastern Michigan, according to the weather service.
Forecasters do not expect any severe weather with those thunderstorms, but warned the storms can produce strong wind gusts up to 60 miles per hour, according to the weather service.
There's another chance for showers and storms across southeastern Michigan early Wednesday morning before cooler and less humid air moves into the region, and sticks around for the rest of the week, according to the weather service.

Tuesday: Thunderstorms; High 88, Low 71
Wednesday: Rain/Storms; High 86, Low 59
Thursday: Sunny; High 78, Low 55
