Niche, a data and analytics platform, analyzed 230 cities and more than 18,000 places to compile this year's ranking.
MICHIGAN — Okemos, a city just outside Lansing with a population of 25,179, is the best place to live in Michigan, according to Niche, a data and analytics platform, that published its "best places to live" rankings for 2024.
To determine the ranking, the group analyzed the health of the local housing market, neighborhood diversity, area public schools and walkability, among others.
The list includes Michigan cities, townships and even some neighborhoods.

- Beverly Hills
- Farmington
- Huntington Woods
- Rochester
- Bloomfield Township

Overall, the five best places to live, according to the ranking, are, respectively, Colonial Village, Virginia, a Washington, D.C., neighborhood; Carmel, Indiana; Chesterbrook, Pennsylvania; Uptown Tampa, Florida; and Cinco Ranch, Texas.
