SOUTHEAST MICHIGAN — Scattered thunderstorms are possible across southeastern Michigan on Thursday afternoon amid an unusually warm Halloween, according to the National Weather Service.

The storms are expected to cross the region along a cold front sometime during the afternoon and early evening hours when highs in the region reach the mid 70s, according to the weather service.

Trick-or-treaters may need their umbrellas at the start of the evening, but the showers and storms should fade away in the nighttime hours, according to the weather service.

Gusty winds will remain in the area, with steady winds between 15 and 20 miles per hour and gusts reaching up to 45 miles per hour in the Thumb area, according to the weather service.

The cold front will knock temperatures down into the 40s Thursday night, leading to cooler conditions on Friday and through the weekend, according to the weather service.

Highs will stay in the 50s on Saturday and Sunday before more rain moves into the region early next week, according to the weather service.
