The University of Michigan was ranked the 17th best university in the world. Michigan State was ranked No. 81, according to a new ranking by U.S. News & World Report. The magazine released a new set of rankings, designating the best global universities.
The United States leads the way with some of the best higher education institutions in the world, claiming the top four best global universities.

The rankings evaluated 1,250 universities on the list across 74 countries and 221 American universities made the list. To come up with the rankings, U.S. News first created a pool of universities using various sources, including a global reputation survey. The rankings were then calculated using 13 indicators and weights that U.S. News chose to measure global research performance. (You can see the full methodology here.)
