Berkley student musicians perform at Berkley Days
Berkley Days bake sale kicks off a yearlong fundraising effort for the BHS orchestra to get to Carnegie Hall
How do you get to Carnegie Hall?
For Berkley High School orchestra students, the answer -- at least this weekend -- is pastries, pastries, pastries.
From Friday to Sunday, the Berkley Days bake sale proceeds will help fund the BHS orchestra’s performance at New York City’s famed Carnegie Hall next spring. The bake sale will be inside the ice arena and will feature a wide variety of baked goods.

Following its award-winning performance in Washington, D.C. in January, the orchestra caught the attention of program planners in New York, and was invited to participate in a music showcase at Carnegie Hall in 2014. This is a huge honor for the orchestra, which earlier this month, performed in the world premiere of the cantata, “My Name is Anne Frank.”
For the first time in Berkley Days history, both band and orchestra students will be performing inside the ice arena on the Berkley Instrumental Boosters stage. Performances are Saturday, noon to 6 p.m., and Sunday, 11:30 to 5:30 p.m. and are subject to change.
