Beth Shalom’s “Café Shalom” welcomes Kol Hakavod January 25
Congregation Beth Shalom in Oak
Park welcomes back the warm and talented University of Michigan Jewish a
cappella group, Kol Hakavod, January 25 at Café Shalom, an intimate cabaret
setting. The program starts at 7:30 p.m. at the synagogue, 14601 Lincoln Drive.
Munchies and drinks are included, and a dessert reception will follow the
performance (dietary laws observed).
Kol HaKavod focuses on music that is both culturally and religiously
Jewish: anything from Sabbath prayers to Israeli pop songs to traditional
Hebrew classics. The group also sings popular American songs that are not
specifically related to Judaism. The group rehearses at the University of
Michigan Hillel. According to their website, they “demand attention on the Diag
and frequently belt out tunes in public bathrooms.”
Members include Mara Chaben of Farmington Hills, Nathan
Chesterman of Huntington Woods, Noah Duchan of Huntington Woods, Taylor Henkin of Bloomfield Hills and
Emily Zussman of Huntington Woods.
