Mental Attitude: Lack of Sleep Increases Anxiety. A lack of sleep may play a key role in ramping up the brain regions that contribute to excessive worrying and anxiety. Results suggest that individuals suffering from conditions such as generalized anxiety disorder, panic attacks, and post-traumatic stress disorder may benefit substantially from sleep therapy. Health Alert: Magnets and Children. Reported cases of children ingesting magnets increased five fold between 2002 and 2011. Ingesting multiple small magnets can cause severe intestinal damage and may require emergency surgery. These types of magnets are generally found in kitchen gadgets or desk toys marketed to adults but left in the reach of children. Annals of Emergency Medicine, August 2013

Diet: Western Diet Associated With Increased Risk Of Colorectal Cancer. A study examined the effects of two diets on colorectal cancer risk. One diet was high in fruit, vegetables, and other healthy foods. The other diet was high in meat, fat, and sugar (known as the western pattern). The diet high in fruits, vegetables, and other healthy foods was associated with a reduced colorectal cancer risk, and the western pattern diet was found to be associated with an increased risk. Exercise: Pregnant, Tired, and Moody? Try Exercise! Exercise may improve mood as well as decrease fatigue during pregnancy. The results of a 4-week exercise program for previously inactive pregnant women suggest that pregnant women should be encouraged to exercise to improve their physical and psychological well-being. Chiropractic: Ear Infections Respond To Adjustments. A study of 21 children with ear infections and accompanying fever showed that chiropractic adjustments had a positive effect on 95% of the children by reducing the red and bulging ear drum to normal and decreasing their oral temperature to 98.6 degrees.
