Parents: Free program on raising your child to be a mensch

Well-known community educator Michele Faudem will teach four free sessions at Congregation Beth Shalom on “Developing a Mensch in the 21st Century.”  The sessions will be at the synagogue, at 14601 W. Lincoln in Oak Park, every Sunday in March from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

Mensch in Yiddish literally means “man.”  The word has come to mean a real human being or a kind, compassionate and caring person.  The sessions are designed for parents who are looking to develop positive, moral characteristics in their children – and you don’t have to be Jewish to be a mensch!  Each session will focus on a different aspect of the mensch.

Beginning with session one, parents will learn about being a “dugmah”- a good example- and about role modeling values.  Session two will focus on developing goodness within the child and session three will focus on cultivating humility.  The program will conclude with a session on attentive listening.
