Learn more about becoming a host family for BHS exchange students
Come to an informational session Thursday, August 1 at 7 pm in the Avery Administration Center (14700 W. Lincoln, Oak Park, MI 48237) to hear from Educatius, and local coordinator Deborah Wilkelis about this wonderful opportunity.
The district has partnered with Educatius International to bring up to 13 exchange students to Berkley High School this Fall for the 2013-14 school year. This year-long high school study abroad program is facilitated by Educatius International, and is looking for host families for these students from across the globe. Who are the exchange students?
- Between the ages of 14-18
- Come from Europe, Asia and South America
- Come with their own spending money and insurance
- Maintain high GPAs and speak English
- A bed, desk, dresser, breakfast and dinner
- Support and guidance
- Live within the Berkley School District boundaries (map available here)
- A monthly stipend of $300 to offset the costs of having the exchange student in your home
- Local and national support
- A new friendship and a lifetime of memories
