25 Best High Schools in Michigan: U.S. News Rankings 2016

Where does your school rank in the 2016 U.S. News and World Report list released this week?

Seven Michigan high schools rank among the 500 best schools in the nation, according to the annual U.S. News & World Report Best High Schools ranking. The 2016 list was released April 18.

The highly regarded International Academy in Bloomfield Hills ranked ninth, and the International Academy of Macomb in Clinton Township ranked 12th.

No. 6 Ernest W. Seaholm High School, ranked 445th nationally;

No. 7 Saline High School, ranked 488th nationally;

No. 8 Grosse Pointe South High School, ranked 503rd nationally;

No. 9 Troy High School, ranked 511th nationally;

No. 11 Novi High School, ranked 545th nationally;

No. 13 Northville High School, ranked 598th nationally;

No. 14 Stoney Creek High School (Rochester Schools), ranked 611th nationally;

No. 17 Rochester Adams High School, ranked 715th nationally;

No. 21 Brighton High School, ranked 777th nationally; and

No 23 Wylie E. Groves High School (Birmingham Public Schools), ranked 852nd nationally.

"The U.S. News rankings include data on more than 21,000 public high schools in 50 states and the District of Columbia," states U.S. News & World Report. "Schools were awarded gold, silver or bronze medals based on their performance on state assessments, their graduation rates and how well they prepare students for college."

The report includes information about curriculum, test scores and student demographics

The No. 1 high school in the U.S. rankings is the School for the Talented and Gifted in Dallas, Texas.
