• Birmingham man beaten, tased by police officers gets $675K settlement (clickondetroit.com) — A former Birmingham resident has received a $675,000 settlement after alleging Birmingham police unlawfully entered his Bowers Street home, beat him, tased him multiple times, and pursued charges later dismissed by a judge. The federal civil-rights case, which accused the city and five officers of excessive force and wrongful arrest, was dismissed with prejudice after the settlement was confirmed, while city officials have declined public comment so far.
• Russian national accused of illegally voting in 2024 U.S. election (detroitnews.com) — A Birmingham resident and Russian national is accused in federal court of illegally voting in the 2024 presidential election, after investigators say Birmingham City Clerk records show she cast a ballot despite not being a U.S. citizen. Prosecutors expect a guilty plea to the "voting by an alien" charge, which carries up to a year in prison and possible immigration consequences, amid broader scrutiny of Michigan election integrity.
• Jeremiah Whitley's fourth-quarter TD helps Groves top rival Seaholm, 14-13 (theoaklandpress.com) — Birmingham's crosstown football rivalry tilted Groves' way Friday night, as Jeremiah Whitley's late touchdown and a stout Falcons defense sealed a 14-13 win over Birmingham Seaholm. The game in Beverly Hills featured big rushing performances on both sides and key fourth-down stops, with Groves now 3-1 and set to host Harper Woods next week for first place in the OAA Blue.
