Birmingham Barbers Celebrates 50 Years of Perfect Harmony
A barbershop quartet will sing, great eats will be offered and the oldest customer attending celebration gets a free cut.

BIRMINGHAM, MI – The harmony in an upcoming celebration at Birmingham Barbers, where men have been getting haircuts, beard trims and neck shaves for 50 years, can’t be ignored.
The barbershop quartet that will be singing at Birmingham Barbers’ upcoming 50th anniversary celebration is only part of it. For 50 years, the shop has been blending not only skill with scissors and razors, but also a knack for relationship building.

“We don’t just cut hair and provide other services, we build relationships,” he said. “... It’s all about the relationships, service, and how you treat people. My father was great at that, I learned it, and now I’m just passing it along to everyone.”

The celebration at the barbershop, located at 725 S. Adams, that takes place from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday, April 25, includes free hot dogs, spinach pie and birthday cake. And the oldest customer attending will also get a gift certificate for a free haircut. The barbershop quartet sings from noon to 1 p.m.
Jim Farhat, Larry’s father, opened Birmingham Barbers in 1966. Larry Farhat started working there in 1981 and learned the trade from his father before taking it over 18 years later. Five barbers, with 130 years of experience, now have chairs at the shop.
