Birmingham Shopping District Exec. Director Steps Down
BSD will start looking immediately to replace John Heiney, who has been the director for 17 years.

(Originally published on Dec. 8, 2016) BIRMINGHAM, MI — Birmingham Shopping District executive director John Heiney is stepping down after guiding the district for 7 years, The Birmingham Eccentric reported. Heiney is moving to Arizona with his wife, Sheri Heiney, longtime president of the Rochester Regional Chamber of Commerce, who has accepted a position as president and CEO of the Prescott Chamber of Commerce.
Heiney has lured such premier retailers as Lululemon Athletica, Paper Source and J. McLaughlin during his tenure. His final board meeting will be Jan. 5.
The Birmingham Shopping District's executive committee immediately began working with Birmingham city officials to find a replacement for Heiney. Until a replacement is hired, staff members Lori Rondello, Marianne Gamboa and Melinda Comerford will handle the day-to-day operations.
