Board of Education Approves Hiring of Six New Teachers, 57 Other School Employees

The Birmingham Board of Education held a regular meeting Oct. 2.

The Birmingham Board of Education met briefly Tuesday night for a regular meeting lasting just under 45 minutes.

During the session, the board approved the hiring of five new teachers.

  • Christine Bays: Adaptive PE Teacher at Seaholm
  • Gregory Dumont: PE Teacher at Harlan, West Maple, Pembroke and Greenfield
  • Joshua Noyes: PE Teacher at St. Regis
  • Rene Roberts: LRC Teacher at Derby
  • Vanessa Soave: Social Worker at Beverly and Harlan

Other new employments approved at the meeting including the hiring of two new members of the Operational/Administrative Assistant staff, 16 members of the paraprofessional staff, two members of the secretarial/clerical staff, 18 members of the noon aide staff and 19 members of the community education staff.

Multiple employees of the school district also submitted resignations and retirements that were approved, including Stephen Palmer, Assistant Superintendent for Instruction, whose retirement will be effective Dec. 1.
