On-Demand Services Change Summer Job Market: Jobs on Patch

Uber and Lyft are looking for driver partners. If you're looking for internships o something more traditional, Patch lists those jobs, too.

METRO DETROIT, MI – Summer jobs aren’t what they used to be.

On-demand startups like Uber, TaskRabbit, Instacart and Postmates allow high school graduates and college students in between semesters set their own schedules and, the Wall Street Journal notes, “the on-demand jobs are largely there for the asking.”

Russell Cook, senior vice president of operations of the food delivery service Postmates, said hiring students makes sense because they like weekend hours and are available during summers, when demand for deliveries is high.

Postmates hasn’t made it to the Detroit market, but both Uber and Lyft are looking for partner drivers in Metro Detroit during peak times. (Click on the links to learn more.)
