Detroit Country Day School Unveils Nicole and Stephen Eisenberg Studio Theatre with Ribbon Cutting
New professional-quality theatre classroom supports learning and the arts
Detroit Country Day School (DCDS) officially opened its new state-of-the-art theatre classroom with a ribbon cutting celebration. Proudly named the Nicole and Stephen Eisenberg Studio Theatre, the space is a dynamic and unmatched creative learning environment that will actively prepare the next generation of creative and confident leaders. DCDS Headmaster Glen Shilling made the announcement.
Joining the Seligman Performing Arts Center on the DCDS Upper School Campus, the Nicole and Stephen Eisenberg Studio Theatre is a testament to the school’s support of the fine and performing arts. The world-class theatre classroom will provide a unique venue for DCDS’s fine arts productions, transformational learning and student performance showcases. Designed to remove the separation between the audience and performers, the theater seating can be configured in several different ways.
“Having the capacity and support to establish two professional quality theaters on a single campus is nothing short of extraordinary,” Shilling said. “This inspiring new theater will give our students the space to learn and grow creatively for years to come. We are grateful for the generous philanthropy of our friends Nicole and Stephen, and the entire community of support who have made this dream possible.”

In addition to the Eisenbergs, several families contributed to the theater’s creation, including Jay Alix and Una Jackman, the Marsha and Wayne Wheeler family, the Jennifer and Jeffrey Farber Family, Jeffrey Michael Nahan and Annette DePetris, and the Deborah and Glen Shilling family. The ribbon cutting celebration featured a light and sound show demonstrating the theater’s technical capabilities to members of the DCDS community, notable business leaders and local personalities. This first student production in the new theater will be “Dracula” this October.
