DETROIT LABS TO HOST KICKOFF CELEBRATION FOR LEUKEMIA & LYMPHOMA SOCIETY'S "MAN & WOMAN OF THE YEAR" CAMPAIGN
The LLS "Man & Woman of the Year" campaign kickoff celebration on March 30 at 1520 Woodward Ave., Suite 600 in Detroit
Detroit Labs, a mobile development company and maker of iPhone, iPad, Android and vehicle apps, will host the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) “Man & Woman of the Year” campaign kickoff celebration on Wednesday, March 30 at their office located at 1520 Woodward Avenue, Suite 600 in Detroit. Paul Glomski, CEO of Detroit Labs, made the announcement.
Each year in communities across the country, dynamic, passionate candidates engage in a spirited 10-week fundraising competition to earn the LLS "Man & Woman of the Year" titles by raising funds for blood cancer research. During the campaign, chapter staff members meet with candidates to assist them in goal planning, and past participants share stories of how they ran their own campaigns and provide advice for success. The campaign is interspersed with events and parties, which will allow candidates the opportunity to get to know one another and other local business figures, and experience the energy and spirit that give this campaign its special flair. Each of the five candidates will fundraise anywhere between $15,000 and $100,000 each. This year’s candidates for Man & Woman of the Year will be raising funds in honor of 7-year-old Blake Beers and15-year-old Aleison Kowalski, the 2016 Boy and Girl of the Year, who are local blood cancer survivors.
“With someone new being diagnosed with a blood cancer every four minutes, we’re proud to host this kickoff celebration that will help raise awareness for such a great organization and a worthy cause,” said Glomski. “The kickoff celebration will be a fun, social and interactive way to start off the campaign, while offering support to the LLS.”
The fundraising competition will culminate with a celebration of everyone's efforts at the Grand Finale Celebration at the Andiamo Celebrity Showroom on Saturday, June 11, with dinner, drinks, entertainment, and a fabulous silent auction complete with web and text bidding.
