DETROIT – March 23, 2016 – Whitney White is an artist and Detroiter who wants to see Detroit thrive and prosper without leaving anyone out. She’s launching a crowdfunding campaign to raise money for the answer to Detroit’s Art Scene – a co-working art studio.

A shared space for artists of all types: painters, poets, crafters, dancers, musicians, photographers, filmmakers and the like to create and build. The Artists’ Lounge will be available to everyone for a low-cost monthly membership. As Detroit continues to grow, the tech, fashion, and art scenes that we’ve always had will also expand.

Looking for studio space in areas with increasingly shrinking availability may push artists out of the epicenter that inspires them, but the Artists’ Lounge is the solution. As a poet, crafter, and painter, herself, White says, “The Artists’ Lounge will be an asset to Detroit. It will shine a spotlight on and give a space and a voice to the talent that has always been here, but was somehow overlooked.”

White chose crowdfunding as the income source because her dreams are vast and resources are few. So many artists are looking for a place to call home and searching for a place to invent, thrive, and collaborate to bring their art to life. Having the Artists’ Lounge around in the near future could help house the overflow of creative talent here and help them realize their artistic dreams.

Donate to the Artists' Lounge Detroit crowdfunding campaign and be a part of creating the new artistic mainstay in Detroit.
