Rooftop Valet Service Part of Solution to Parking Shortage

If the concept works, it may be extended beyond the North Old Woodward parking garage.

BIRMINGHAM, MI – City officials are offering a special incentive to encourage people to park in downtown parking garage spaces they’d typically avoid under a new pilot project offering free rooftop valet service from the top parking deck on the North Old Woodward parking garage.

Downtown parking is in high demand, and if the program works out well, rooftop valet service may be offered at other garages, The Birmingham Eccentric reports.

City Engineer Paul O’Meara thinks another 50 vehicles can be parked downtown if rooftops are fully utilized.

Other cities with parking shortages have used valet service and “it’s worked out well,” O’Meara said.

The City Commission approved the concept this week, and rooftop valet service could be available as early as next month.
