West Bloomfield Tapper's exhibiting $10M rare Australian Pink and Red Diamonds

Event will be held 11 a.m.-5:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 12

Tapper’s Diamonds & Fine Jewelry of metro Detroit is one of five U.S. jewelers recently appointed under trademark license to sell the iconic Australian Argyle Pink Diamonds.

The jeweler will showcase a selection of more than $10 million worth of rare pink and red diamonds alongside exclusive designs from celebrity designer Charles Krypell. The event will be held 11 a.m.-5:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Dec. 11-12 at Tapper’s West Bloomfield Township location at 6337 Orchard Lake Road.

Argyle Pink Diamonds are extremely rare and have fetched more than $1,500,000/ct at public auctions. Each diamond over 0.15 carats is inscribed and sold with a Gem Identification Document from the Argyle Diamond Mine in Australia. These collectable pink diamonds originate from the remote East Kimberley region of Western Australia, and offer a spectrum and intensity of color that is unrivaled by any other pink diamond. According to the Natural Color Diamond Association, natural pink color diamonds are extremely rare, approximately 0.02% of the Gemological Institute of America’s intake of diamonds.

“We are excited to introduce Argyle Pink Diamonds to our customers. Most of them have never seen a pink diamond, and it is very special to watch them see one of these extraordinary diamonds for the first time,” said Mark Tapper, President of Tapper’s Diamonds and Fine Jewelry.

The United States is an important collector market for fancy gems and the world’s largest retail diamond jewelry market, estimated to be $72 billion, according to DeBeers 2014 Market Insight Report. Argyle Pink Diamonds have had strong consumer interest in Europe and Asia, and only now make their debut among retailers in the United States. Tapper’s believes that Argyle’s pink diamonds appeal to many consumers because they are unique, romantic, collectable, and they can be worn every day.
