What You Need to Know About Birmingham Police Traffic Blitz
Police to increase patrol around area schools next week to remind drivers to slow down and watch for pedestrians in school crosswalk areas.

Each year in the fall and spring, the Birmingham Police Department spends an entire week pushing traffic awareness and compliance around schools. Beginning Monday, Sept. 8 through Friday, Sept. 12, the department will send extra police officers to local schools for their fall “traffic blitz”.

“By increasing our presence we prompt everyone to use caution and be alert when driving near schools,” said Birmingham Patrol Commander Terry Kiernan. “The traffic blitz serves as a reminder for drivers to slow down and watch for pedestrians in school crosswalk areas.”
