An official cause of death will be determined after an autopsy by the Oakland County Medical Examiner’s Office.
WDIV quoted police as saying there was no sign of forced entry at the condo, located off Maple Woods Drive, but the gas had been turned on and candles had been lit. Police initially speculated the man may have been a victim of a home invasion.

Neighbors interviewed by WWJ said the man, who reportedly lived with his son, was president of the Knollwood Court condominium association. He spoke with an English accent and was cordial, neighbors said.
“I don’t know what to make of it,” Ann Gallison, who has lived at the complex for more than 20 years, told WWJ. “This doesn’t happen in our area. This is very odd.”
She described the man as “very friendly a very congenial guy (who) always (had) a smile on his face.”
